Common Wealth Games 2010
Well I am very happy that India is hosting Common Wealth Games 2010. This is the 1st time after independence India would be hosting such a big event. Now we can say that we have world class sports facilities in India. May be after 64 years of Independence but finally we have got a good boost for sports activities. India has always been lagging behind in sports. We hardly get any medals in Olympics.
It is good that media is trying to uncover all the scams and the money illegally spent on it. It is a good time to do right things in right way. Media can play a great role in such activities. But I am surprised that media is conveying a wrong message. They are still trying to show that we don't have money to give food to players of different countries who would be visiting India. They are showing as if our money is going waste.
but we need to understand the difference between WASTE and Productive/Investment...

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia is an international, graduate-level research university dedicated to inspiring a new age of scientific achievement in the Kingdom that will also benefit the region and the world.
Well I have read about it in Scientific American. I have been reading history. But still I don't know anything as such in History. I feel my life is short to know about it. But I do know the words Algebra and Algorithms cam from Arab. Till sometime back I was not knowing too, that once upon a time Middle East was quite developed in all terms. They were not only financially sound but were doing really good in Mathematics, Physics and many other areas. They were strong in R&D too. This is all history says. If somebody finds tough to believe that then its not shocking. They have neglected the importance of knowledge for a very long time. I am really happy to know that they have gone back in hunt of the knowledge. They have developed a lot in last 50 years but there growth would be for a very long time and would be stable if they gain a knowledge base which actually takes time. The step towards this University is going to help Arab and middle east countries . It looks like a turning point and as some great people say it is history in making ... :)

I am still a Fresher....
Well every day is a learning experience for me. I keep learning something .. Technical / non technical......... personal or at professional level......... it does not seem to have a end. Every day I feel the same thing that I don't know anything. Recently was going through programing language paradigms and discovered the way Linux and Windows store there integer/float variables. This thing is very conceptual and basic. I should have known this many years back.
As I have joined Wipro this week I was going through there Induction manual. It was interesting to read Azim Premji's Message on 1st page. I would like to mention the same here. " Never lose you Zest and curiosity ---- All the available knowledge in the world is accelerating at a phenomenal rate. The whole world's codified knowledge base (all documented information in library books and electronic files) doubled every 30 years in the early 20th century. By the 1970s, the world's knowledge base doubled every seven years. Information researchers predict that by the year 2010, the world's codified knowledge will double every 11 hours." So .... I am nowhere. I do understand learning is life long process and we keep on learning through out and bla bla bla. But my problem is I am not able to meet my own expectations. I should already know so many things which I dont know. Well thats make me feel like a fresher and I always feel that I am still a fresher ...

ACM
ACM - Association for Compuging Machinery
Well I have done my graduation and post graduation in the field of Information Technology couple of years back and now I am having a 2 years and 4 months of professional experience in the same field. And I have no idea how to express my feeling on not knowing about ACM until now. Trust me I had never heard of it.
So ACM, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. (For more details you can click here)

Well I have just finished 3rd chapter and am able to feel thats its really abstract and short account of his past. But its quite informative. Came to know of a interesting thing 'Theosophy'. I need to explore it a little more . http://theosophy.org/

The Word - 'Algorithm'
It was very interesting for me to know how the word 'Algorithm' was derived. I thought of sharing it with you... :)
Al-Khwārizmī, muslim Persian astronomer and mathematician, wrote a treatise in the arabic language in 825 AD, On Calculation with Hindu–Arabic numeral system. It was translated from arabic into Latin in the 12th century as Algoritmi de numero Indorum (al-Daffa 1977), whose title is supposedly likely intended to mean "Algoritmi on the numbers of the Indians", where "Algoritmi" was the translator's rendition of the author's name; but people misunderstanding the title treated Algoritmi as a Latin plural and this led to the word "algorithm" (Latin algorismus) coming to mean "calculation method". The intrusive "th" is most likely due to a false cognate with the Greek ἀριθμός (arithmos) meaning "numbers".(For details click here)

dost ban ban ke mile mujhako miTaane vaale - - Jagjit Singh
- Movie: non-Film
- Singer(s): Jagjit Singh
- Lyricist: Saeed Rahi
